About the Racquet ClubMembership in the SSCA Racquet Club includes use of the Hillcrest Tennis Courts, located near the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Sea Oats Trail, and the Sea Oats Pickleball Courts located in Sea Oats Park (on Sea Oats Trail). Racquet Club members and their guests may use both these facilities at no charge. Players are required to bring their own racquets, paddles and balls. Hillcrest Tennis CourtsThe Tennis Courts located at 320 Hillcrest Drive include the two courts, a covered gazebo with tables and seats for spectators, a water fountain, a clean port-a-potty, and equipment to maintain the courts in good playing condition. The facilities are fenced with a locked gate. Racquet Club members are given an access code when they join and whenever the code is updated. Reservations are required. Tennis court sign-up is located on-site, inside the tennis courts on the bulletin board. Each member may reserve court time in advance for a maximum of 3 hours per week. Reservation sheets are posted inside the court area on the bulletin board. The Club hosts several tennis mixers each year, including organized matches and refreshments. The turn-out for these events has been great fun for our club players and non-players alike. There are several organized groups for tennis play during the week - Mixed Doubles Wednesday evening, Women’s Friday morning and Men's Saturday morning. Times are posted on the court reservation sheets at the courts. Mixed and Men's groups are open to all. Please contact [email protected] for more information. The Hillcrest Courts are available 7 days a week, year-round. We ask that the courts be used during the day, and not after dusk. The tennis courts are only to be used for tennis. Marking courts or adjusting the net for other sports is prohibited. Tennis shoes, sneakers, or similar rubber-soled shoes are required for play on all courts. [back to top]Sea Oats Pickleball CourtsThe Pickleball facilities are located at 253 Sea Oats Trail, within Sea Oats Park. A port-a-potty is available in the park, and two parking lots are located near the courts. Please be respectful of our neighbors and do not park on the street. The Sea Oats Pickleball courts are available 7-days a week, year-round. We ask that the courts be used during the day, and not after dusk. The pickleball courts are only to be used for pickleball. Marking courts or adjusting the net for other sports is prohibited. Tennis shoes, sneakers, or similar rubber-soled shoes are required for play on all courts. The SSCA pickleball courts are privately owned and are for the exclusive use of SSCA Racquet Club members and their guests; members are responsible for their guests’ behavior. Play at your own risk. RulesWinter Hours are 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM from November through March, daylight permitting.
Summer Hours are 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM from April through October, daylight permitting.
Please make sure guests know NOT to use the courts before 8am. It can be quite disruptive to neighbors.
Who Can PlayRacquet Club members and their guests are the only persons authorized to use the courts. Guests under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. TrespassersThe Southern Shores Police Department says members should call 911 or the SSPD Non-emergency Number 252-473-3444 if they see anyone attempting to scale the fence or break into the courts. Open Play is open to Adult Players of ALL skill levels. Maximum 12 players per session on both courts, which will allow for rotational play. Limit 4 Sessions per week per User. To reserve a slot, log in to Your Courts and join the Open Play session of your choice in the Reservations Schedule. If the Session is full, you may add your name to the Wait List. If you cannot play, please cancel your reservation by removing your name from the Schedule. No Show reservations are forfeited 10 minutes after start time, unless someone present in the group is notified.
Open Play Rotational Rules
The intent of the Open Play session is to mix players of all abilities. Those wanting to stay within one skill level group must reserve a court for Casual Play.

Casual PlayCheck Weekly Events email or the community calendar for most up to date schedule. Members may reserve Court 1 or Court 2 for a 60-minute session for up to 6 players, limited to 2 Casual Play sessions per day and 4 sessions per week per household. At the end of each reservation, players are expected to leave the court regardless of the score. No show reservations are forfeited 5 minutes after start time. No exceptions. The SSCA has set up a free online scheduling system for the pickleball courts at YourCourts.com to be used by Racquet Club members. Every paid Racquet Club member is registered as a user. If your SSCA account includes two email addresses, two users in your household can make reservations. Contact the SSCA if you would like to add a secondary email to your account. Reservations can be made up to two weeks in advance. The Racquet Club reserves the right to block out court time for special events or other social activities.
