Parking Passes and Decals
Q: Where do SSCA parking passes work? A: All SSCA-owned properties, which you can find on our Community Map. Property owners in Southern Shores can get free parking passes to park in town-owned parking areas. The community of Chicahauk parking areas can only be used by members of the Chicahauk POA.
Q: Can I park overnight? A: No. All SSCA parking areas are for daytime parking only.
Q: I'm checking into my rental this afternoon. Can I park at an SSCA property? A: If you do not have your guest passes yet, you may get a warning citation. However, it takes two warning citations before you go on the towing list. So while you may get a first citation, as long as you use your passes the rest of the week, you will not get a second citation or be subject to towing.
Q: Can I park at the marinas or tennis courts if I don't have a boat or tennis pass? A: Yes! All SSCA members can park at and enjoy any SSCA property without needing a Boat Club or Racquet Club pass. However, we do ask that you be considerate of busy times at these facilities, such as during open play at the courts or when there are people waiting to use the boat ramp.
Q: Do I need a special pass to use the boat ramp? A: Yes, to use the boat ramp, you need to be a Boat Club member and have your pass with the Boat Club symbol on it. This includes launching kayaks.
Q: Who is allowed to park in the numbered spaces in the North and Loblolly Marina parking lots, and what decals/passes are valid there? A: All numbered dry slips/parking spaces are rented and paid for by Boat Club members. They have exclusive use of the parking space/dry slip, and are allowed to use the slip 24 hours per day, seven days per week. They are required to display the required SSCA member decal and trailer decal.
Q: What is the purpose of the boat trailer decal for Boat Club members? A: To assist SSCA parking monitors in identifying Boat Club members’ vehicles and trailers parking at the marinas. Vehicles/trailers without decals may be towed if found using SSCA parking facilities
Q: How long can a detached trailer park at a marina with or without a boat trailer decal? A: Trailers with decals may park during the day in unmarked spaces only. Marked spaces are rented and paid for by SSCA Boat Club members—you may not park in these spaces. Trailers without decals are subject to towing. There is no overnight parking at the marina except for members in legally rented dry slips.
Q: Is there a recommended location for placement of the trailer decal? A: The best location for volunteers to check is on the winch post.
Q: What is citable related to the boat trailer decal? A: Left overnight, not in a dry slip.
Q: Can a vehicle, with a trailer attached, park in our marina parking lots with an SSCA decal with a Boat Club symbol but not a boat trailer decal? A: Yes. It’s the orphan trailers we need to monitor.
Q: Can a vehicle without a trailer attached park in the North Marina parking lot with an SSCA decal that does not have a Boat Club symbol? A: Yes.
