Our SSBC Guest Speakers will be Representative Bobby Hanig, NC House District 6. Bobby has an impressive record, as an Army Sergeant veteran, Vice Chair Currituck Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Northeast Workforce Development Board (4 years), Chairman Currituck Board of Commissioners (2years) and is on his second term as our NC House Representative. Bobby was the co-founder of Brindley Beach Vacations, plus owner of Hanig Services (infamous for his Pool Service). He recently was married on 12/21/21 to Dana Hanig.

Representative Hanig will share what he is doing for us in the NC House of Representatives and discuss the following topics. The presentation will be informational and not political.
Topics:

  1. The Southern Shores Residents have been wanting the Mid-Currituck Bridge for many years to help with our safety & commuting. What is the bridge status? Is there funding for the bridge? What is the NC projected bridge construction start?
  2. Over 20% of Dare County are Veterans. What is the NC House doing to help our Veterans?
  3. Workers wanting to come to Dare can't find reasonable housing. We have lost bringing in new teachers, nurses, & police workers as they can't find a place to live. What is the NC House doing to create Affordable Housing ?
  4. Commercial & Sport Fishing is an important industry to the residents of Dare County. What measures is the NC House taking to improve Wanchese Harbor, Safe Access to the Ocean , Aquaculture & Fish Farming?
  5. Questions from the audience!

George Berry (not the SSCA) will need to provide an exact head-count of attendees to the Duck Woods Country Club for breakfast on the Monday (2/7/22) before the GAM.

It is important that you email your reservation to George Berry directly at [email protected] if you plan on attending.

If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, I need to know before we give the Head Count to DWCC. SSBC is obligated to pay DWCC $16.67 per person, based on your reservation Head Count provided.
If you sign-up with a reservation, but don't show-up, then SSBC can't subsidize your lack of attendance and we will bill you $16.67 per person, the full DWCC breakfast price. Notification of bona fide Emergencies with George Berry, BEFORE the GAM will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Twelve dollars per person will be collected at the door for a hearty and delicious breakfast. Unfortunately, inflation of food & labor costs have necessitated the SSBC Board to raise the individual member meal cost to $12 per person (Please note that the SSBC subsidized only attendees to the GAM)

At the GAM Kat Berry will be taking orders for our new blue or green Hoodie Sweatshirts to help us all stay warm.
Come and socialize with all of your Boat Club Friends & Learn something too!

Cheers,
