What They will talk about:

The Southern Shores Entry Corridor Committee was formed to take a thoughtful, community-driven look at how the Town’s primary gateway can better reflect the character, values, and long-term vision of Southern Shores. Focusing on the entry way from NC 12 to US 158, the area that shapes first impressions for residents and visitors alike, the committee is exploring practical, incremental ways to improve aesthetics, safety, and cohesion—while respecting the area’s natural setting and established identity. This effort is less about large-scale change and more about setting a clear direction that can guide future decisions, investments, and private development over time.

This presentation will highlight what the committee has heard to date, including key themes from community survey responses and input gathered from stakeholders such as property owners, business representatives, and residents, touch on areas of general alignment, note where questions or uncertainties remain, and offer a snapshot of how that feedback is beginning to inform potential priorities for the corridor. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for open discussion and to share observations, concerns, and ideas that can help further shape the committee’s direction moving forward.

Overview questions They will answer:

  1. Did you know the entry corridor shapes nearly every first impression of Southern Shores?
  2. Did you know landscaping and visual consistency ranked among the top priorities?
  3. Did you know there are currently limited design guidelines along much of the corridor?
  4. Did you know safety and traffic flow came up just as often as aesthetics?
