Rules for the Southern Shores Civic Association
Tennis Courts
1. The SSCA tennis courts are privately owned and are for the exclusive use of SSCA tennis club members and their guests; members are responsible for their guests' behavior.
2. Courts are for tennis playing only.
3. Tennis shoes, sneakers or similar rubber-soled shoes are required for play.
4. Persons who have joined the Civic Association as well as the tennis club are provided a numbered key and lock combination to the tennis court gate; persons not issued a key and combinations are not authorized to use the courts.
5. All play must be recorded on sign-up sheets, whether reserved in advance or used on an "as available basis".
6. Each property owner or authorized guest can reserve court time for a maximum of 3 hours per week in advance. To reserve a court: list the court (1 or 2), owner or cottage name, and key number in appropriate space on sign-up sheet. Players not using their reserved court within 10 minutes of starting time forfeit their reservation.
7. Unreserved or forfeited time periods go to the first eligible player wishing to use the courts who must list name and key number, plus the notation "NR" on the sign-up sheet prior to playing.
8. Time limits when others are waiting or have signed up are: singles-1 hour, doubles-1½ hours.
9. Between April 1 and October 31, sign-up sheets are posted for the following week by 4 p.m. Saturday for reserving courts in advance. After October 31 and before April 1, sign-up sheets will be posted on a monthly basis.
10. No glass containers or food allowed on the courts; players are to leave the courts clean or free of debris after playing.
11. Players are expected to be courteous to other players and to follow the rules for court use.
12. The gate is to be locked at all times the courts are not being used.
13. Appropriate and non-offensive language and protocol should prevail while using the facility. Be aware that children may be present.
14. Be courteous to players on the opposite court and refrain from retrieving balls during play. |
